4 Ways to Find Products to Sell on eBay

If you want to get new products that you can resell on eBay for a profit, there are a few ways you can go about it. Ideally, you want to buy at the lowest price possible. This would mean going directly to the source: the product manufacturer. This is easier said than done, however, so some other options would be to buy from wholesalers, liquidation companies or drop shipping product sourcing networks.

Manufacturers

You may be able to get the lowest price from manufacturers, but many of them already have distribution channels in place and will not sell to individuals. If you decide to contact some manufacturers to see if you can arrange a deal, be prepared with your own business name and website that you can sell through. Many manufacturers don't want to provide their items for sale on eBay, so if have a website that you can sell through, they may be more likely to work with you.

You can find manufacturers by searching in online directories like Alibaba, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council or Thomas Net for industrial products.

How Are Your Window Displays?

Monday, November 1, 2010

I read a blog post today about clever window displays in retail stores. They showed a picture of a window display that was a washing machine and a shoe at the same time - something that would make passers by take notice.

Memorable and interesting window displays can attract more customers and make a difference in the amount of business a store receives - yet they don’t necessarily require a lot of time or money. With a little creativity, a retail store can cut it's advertising costs while increasing revenue.

One thing to keep in mind is that more is not necessarily better. An uncluttered design can many times present a professional look. Do the opposite of what people expect, but don't forget to display your items in a desirable way. Think about the benefits that your products give to customers, and try to incorporate those into your visual display. If you're trying to get ideas, look at other window displays to see what does and doesn't catch your attention.

ShopDisplays.net has lots of pictures of wild and crazy window displays to help you get creative. They even have ideas for wall displays of store interiors, not just window displays - like if you have a restaurant, etc..

An Interesting 2nd Stream of Income

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

After getting through the startup phase, a business will often look for ways to generate more income with minimal effort.

One way to increase revenue is to add another product line, but you don't necessarily need to sell new products. With websites like eBay and Craigslist, it has become easy to buy and sell second hand items online, and more people are now shopping specifically for used products because it is easier to find them.

Some companies, like Ikea and Siba, are going this route - selling second hand products - to provide solutions for their customers while giving people another reason to shop with them. It's a brilliant idea when you think about it, especially for a company that offers unique items that are durable and last a long time.

Is this idea something that could work for your business?
